If you are looking for a quiet place to be in the hustle and bustle of the city, go no further. Ducks and geese populate the park ,a small stream adds up to the peaceful feeling and there’s a kids playground to enjoy

Beautiful park and beautifully decorated on Christmas with lights. Best time to visit is the evening when you can see all the lights, santa etc.

This is a beautiful park to walk in. There are tons of big trees for shade and the walking path is big and goes by a little stream with ducks and geese. The playground has that old tire material as a base so it never gets muddy and it reflects heat. On a 70 degree day you will feel hot on the playground especially if it's sunny since there are no trees shading it. On a coll fall day it's great because it feels warmer and more comfortable on the playground. I would not recommend it for hot days, or even moderately warm days for that matter.

Neighborhood park. Nice walking paths. Safe environment!

The next fun seasonal event is Christmas at Brown Park. It is not a one time event but rather a multiple week long extravaganza of fantastic Holiday/Christmas lights and decorations. Also free, the decorations get more elaborate every year. I'm not exactly certain of the dates (so don't hold me to them firmly) but I believe the decorations go up after Thanksgiving and stay up until New Year's Day.

Year round this is a good park for walking on the circular paved trails and checking out the local flora and fauna. Especially ducks and geese since multiple areas of the trail are within viewing distance of tributaries of Beargrass Creek. There is a good sized playground that is very well maintained. The parking lot is close to the play area, convenient for unloading children and strollers, etc. However my favorite feature of the park is the two holiday activities that are offered annually. In October the St. Matthews Chamber of Commerce hosts a Halloween Trick or Treat event. It is generally held on the Saturday before Halloween so it's like an entire bonus trick or treating experience for the kids. There are MANY booths placed throughout the park on the trails where local businesses, non-profits, schools and others give out candy. Closer to the playground there are bounce houses and inflatables. It's free and the candy haul is BIG.
